Our department is committed to advancing knowledge, promoting sustainable practices, and developing innovative technologies through several ongoing research initiatives.
Currently, significant research efforts are focused on Dragon Fruit Cultivation, emphasizing optimized production technologies, varietal improvement, and post-harvest management to meet the growing demand for this high-value crop. Simultaneously, research on advanced orchard management practices is underway to enhance the productivity, quality, and sustainability of various fruit crops. Significant work is being carried out under polyhouse cultivation practices, where various crops are grown under controlled environments to maximize yield, quality, and resource use efficiency, supporting the advancement of modern agriculture.
The department also operates a state-of-the-art vermicomposting unit, where research is being carried out on efficient organic waste recycling techniques and the production of high-quality organic fertilizers, contributing to sustainable and eco-friendly farming systems.
In addition, active research is being conducted in silkworm cultivation (sericulture), Apiculture, Mushroom Cultivation etc. focusing on improved rearing practices, host plant management, and strategies to enhance cocoon yield and quality.
Apart from these key areas, the Department of Agriculture is engaged in numerous other research projects including protected cultivation technologies, soil health management, organic farming, precision agriculture, crop diversification, integrated pest management, and sustainable resource utilization. Through these initiatives, the Department of Agriculture is not only enriching academic excellence but also contributing to the development of innovative, practical solutions for farmers, agribusiness professionals, and the agricultural community at large.
