The Central Library of GKU was established as Library of Guru Gobind Singh Polytechnic College, Talwandi Sabo in the year of 1998. Later on, other two libraries of Guru Gobind Singh College of Engineering, and Guru Gobind Singh College of Education merged into the Central Library at the time of establishment of Guru Kashi University in the year of 2012.

GKU has well stocked library with 981.75 sq.m area and has a collection of 67570 books. It includes a large section of expensive encyclopedias, reference books and a number of textbooks related to the courses being run in the University.

The E- resources subscribed by University Library are EBSCO, SCC Online, DELNET, Shodhganga, KNIMBUS, Manupatra, Law Herald etc. Library system subscribes to a number of journals, magazines and newspapers.
The whole collection of the library is computerized and its OPAC is electronically accessible. The computerized bibliographic information of the library holdings has also been available for users’ searching throughout the campus through Local Area Network (intranet) using ERP.
Central Library of the University also manages an Institutional Repository for theses and dissertations. Besides books, library system also possesses rare book collection, special reports, reference sources etc. Library has fully air conditioned and Wi-Fi enabled building and reading hall with a capacity of 150 seats with 20 internet labs equipped with world class facilities.
GKU central library has CCTV Security system and has elevator for physically handicapped users and staff. It has a power back-up of Solar PV Power Plant to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Automated circulation system using barcode technology is being used which provides easy and prompt service to the users. Library has been providing lending and reprographic services; also, orientation progammes for newly admitted students of all academic departments are conducted every academic session.
The Central Library is established on the third floor of the Administrative Block of this university. Dr. Jagtar Singh is the Chief Librarian. The library is dedicated to collect, process, preserve, and serve printed and electronic materials to facilitate teaching, learning and research in the university.
Library will remain closed on national holidays i.e., Republic Day, Independence Day, & Gandhi Jayanti..
The library managing the two databases of the university, these databases are IRINS and Shodhganga Repository.
