The Directorate of Youth Affairs and Culture at Guru Kashi University is a vibrant and integral part of our academic ecosystem.
It is dedicated to nurturing cultural awareness and fostering a deeper appreciation of the rich Punjabi culture, heritage and values, among students, faculty, and the larger university community. Through a variety of events such as youth festivals, folk performances, and traditional celebrations, we strive to preserve and promote the timeless values, language, and folk traditions of Punjab. Regular presentations of iconic Punjabi dances like Giddha and Bhangra—often showcased at the grand finales of university functions—serve as dynamic expressions of our cultural pride.
In addition, we enthusiastically celebrate culturally significant festivals such as Karva Chauth, Teej, Lohri, Pongal, Bihu, Baisakhi, and many other important festivals from various states of India. These celebrations reflect our commitment to inclusivity and cultural unity.
Our vision extends beyond regional boundaries. By actively involving international students from diverse backgrounds, the Directorate seeks to create a vibrant mosaic of global cultures on campus—celebrating diversity in attire, cuisine, and artistic expressions. These efforts enrich the university environment and foster meaningful cross-cultural interactions.
The Directorate also coordinates the participation of GKU students in prestigious state- and national-level cultural events organized by other universities and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Our students have consistently brought laurels to Guru Kashi University, reflecting the talent, dedication, and cultural spirit nurtured on our campus.
Above all, our mission is to cultivate a strong and vibrant sense of Punjabiyat—the cultural essence of Punjab—while embracing the diversity of our students and society at large. Through our initiatives, we aim to build a more inclusive, culturally enriched, and value-driven academic environment.
