Introduction

In accordance with the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, the following Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is constituted to address and manage complaints of sexual harassment in the workplace.

Objectives of the Committee

Create a secure and inclusive environment for the employees and students. Address and redress complaints of sexual harassment promptly and effectively.

Promote awareness and education regarding sexual harassment and gender sensitivity. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations related to the prevention, prohibition, and redressal of sexual harassment.

Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behavior (whether directly or by implication) namely:

Physical contact and advances
  • A demand or request for sexual favors
  • Making sexually colored remarks
  • Showing pornography
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
What to do if you think you are harassed or being harassed

If you believe you are being harassed, take the following steps:

  • Keep a record of dates, times, locations, and descriptions of the incidents, including any witnesses.
  • If you feel safe, inform the harasser that their behavior is unwelcome and must stop.
  • Talk to trusted colleagues, friends, or family members about the incident.
  • Report the incident to the ICC of Guru Kashi University. Provide a detailed account of the harassment.
  • Submit any evidence or documentation you have collected.
  • Be assured that your complaint will be handled with utmost confidentiality.
  • Stay informed about the status of your complaint and cooperate with the ICC during the investigation process.
  • If necessary, seek legal advice or assistance from the ICC of Guru Kashi University. Send an email to chairpersonicc@gku.ac.in or contact the Presiding Officer, Dr. Vijay Laxmi, Professor of Computer Application.
  • ICC will follow the prescribed procedure under UGC Regulations 2015 and the Sexual Harassment Act for timely inquiry and resolution of complaints.
Possible actions that can be taken against the respondent

Upon completion of the inquiry and determination that the allegations are substantiated, the ICC may recommend the following actions against the respondent:

  • Warning Written
  • Withholding of Promotion/Increment
  • apology
  • Suspension
  • Counseling
  • Any other relevant actions
