The Department of Education, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized an essay writing competition on the occasion of Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav, held on 11th December 2024 at 10 AM. The event was conducted as part of the NSS activities to commemorate the importance of this day and to promote the preservation and enrichment of the Indian languages. Dr. Ghulam Sarwer, the Coordinator of NSS, took the initiative to organize this competition under the supervision of Dr. Kavita Rani, the Head of the Department. The competition saw an enthusiastic participation of 50 B.Ed. students. The students were tasked with writing essays on topics related to the "Making Indian Languages Compatible With Modern Technology".

Before the commencement of the competition, Dr. Ghulam Sarwer addressed the participants and made them aware of the significance of Bhartiya Basha Ustav. He highlighted the role of language in preserving the cultural identity of the nation, fostering unity, and promoting a sense of belonging among the people. Dr. Sarwer emphasized the need for students to understand the power of language in connecting individuals from different backgrounds, while also ensuring the sustenance of regional languages and dialects.

The competition provided a platform for students to showcase their writing skills and express their thoughts on the importance of languages in modern India. After the essays were submitted, a panel of judges carefully evaluated the submissions based on content, creativity, and language proficiency.

After thorough evaluation, three winners were announced. The first prize was awarded to Harjiunder Kaur, the second prize went to Jashanpreet Singh, and the third prize was secured by Badal Singh. The winners were felicitated for their outstanding essays, and all the participants were appreciated for their efforts in making the event a success.

The event concluded with a sense of fulfillment, as it not only provided a creative outlet for students but also reinforced the importance of Bhartiya Basha Ustav in preserving India’s linguistic heritage.
