Welcome to the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Guru Kashi University. Recently, there has been a resurgence in arts and humanities education worldwide. Public historians are selling millions of books, data-driven visualization has become a highly sought-after skill, and think tanks are increasing in number and influence throughout the country. The demand for user-friendly design and user experience requires complex aesthetic and interpretive skills, which arts and humanities students are well-equipped to provide.
Additionally, social media analytics has generated vast amounts of data on human behaviour, opening new frontiers for psychology and behavioural studies. Large language models are beginning to offer new insights into semantic and philosophical issues.
Skills in econometrics, data analysis, text interpretation, close reading, technology integration, and historically and philosophically informed analysis are increasingly valuable in today’s world. Moreover, interest in the past has also become an area of focus and investment. Deeply studying history, connecting it to present concerns, integrating knowledge from different civilizational legacies, and making it relevant to the modern global academic ecosystem are emerging priorities. This shift means that today's students of arts and social sciences possess a unique skill set and a distinctly different attitude.
We invite you to step into a new world where arts education is not just a last resort for students whose options have narrowed. In this world, education in the arts, humanities, and social sciences expands horizons that are being newly formed.
